Air Canada has become the first Canadian airline to begin offering quarantine free flights. The first departures, from Montréal and Toronto, will take travellers to Rome, Italy.

To board the flights, due to begin departing from July 2, you will need to provide a negative test 48 hours before flying and a negative test on arrival.

Prior to the announcement, travellers had to provide a negative test before departure and quarantine for 10 days upon arrival back into Canada. The Ministry of Health has approved these select flights, as we begin to develop a roadmap to return to international travel.

The rest of Europe is expected to put into place a blanket easing of restrictions for travellers from countries with low infection rates. However, Canada would not yet be amongst these. Infection rates would have to be lower than 75 in every 100,000.

As of June 3, 58 per cent of residents have received a first dose. This makes Canada one of the top countries in terms of vaccination rates. This is good ahead of the G7 Summit in Cornwall, England. Vaccine Passports are high on the agenda, which is wonderful news for the Summer ahead.
